During the Conference of Parties 16 (COP16) at Copenhagen, Denmark in 2009, Prime Minister Dato’ Sri Najib Tun Razak’s announced Malaysia’s pledge to reduce its carbon intensity by 40% from its 2005 levels by the year 2020.
In the 1 Malaysia spirit, one of the initiatives to quickly follow-up on the government’s commitment in making a greener Malaysia is the 1 Malaysia Green & Clean campaign initiated by Tourism Minister Dato’ Seri Dr Ng Yen Yen.
Emphasizing on the need for Malaysians take ownership and feel a sense of responsibility for Malaysia’s beautiful environments, the 1 Malaysia Green & Clean campaign is a timely move to highlight Malaysia’s natural beauty to Malaysians and visitors alike while marking spots that are in need of cleaning and restoration so that this beauty can be appreciated by future generations.
The website 1 Malaysia Green & Clean allows everyone to share their postings for the hall of fame and hall of improvements. Firstly to compliment the places which were well kept and worth sharing with tourist to introduce Malaysia’s Tourism and the hall for improvements is to let the ministry knows about those dirty places and get other relevant department to take action on it.
