Welcoming the New Year at Lake Kenyir


Being well known as the largest man made lake in South East Asia. WS members made it all the way from KL on New Year's eve and gathered around 10.30pm to start our journey to the Largest Man Made Lake. Stopping by near BHP Petrol for our supper and countdown. What an experience to countdown at the Mamak Stall. We nearly BLOWED the place up with our countings... 10...9...8...7...6...5...4...3...2...1... HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! even the mamak stall workers and owner were clapping in joy with the moment to welcome 2010.


After our supper we continued our way to Kuala Terengganu. Harry and Joe was holding the mic non stop and sing till their throat almost burst the whole night through... SO SUFFERING!!!

We reach Kuala Berang around 6.30am. It was drizzling there. Oh my... why does it have to start raining when we about to reach our destination. The locals told us that it has not been raining for many days... and HOT! Well... it's ok.. a good sign for a new year.. to WASH AWAY ALL THE BAD THINGS and START ANEW!


We reached the jetty around 9.30am and started unloading all our stuff to the boathouse that is ready there. The boat started around 10.30am. The cruise along the lake is really beautiful although it's raining. It gives another kind of feeling... misty... with clouds around the mountain... SPLENDID...

Our first destination is the Bewah Cave. 5 hours from the Jetty to reach this place. It was still raining.. but we all made our way through the caves.. took some pictures and head back to the boat.


Dinner was ready around 6pm. Joe and Eva prepared our dinner. Sambal fishes, Chic Kut Teh, Fried Eggs, and a vege... Yummy.. Joe of course is the chef again....

After dinner we all gather at the open deck.. chit chat... some were fishing... some were pak toh'ing... some were watching Astro...

The night just passed and we all went to bed around 12pm.


The boat started to the next destination around 8am. We all had our breakfast and were sitting enjoying the view. Some was having a nice nap.... it's still raining... and stop... and raining... but it made the weather real cold and nice.

We reach Lasir Waterfall around 12pm. Lunch was ready and we all had our fried rice... this round our Chef Ken was the Chef of the Day... A good cook... (this one betul betul Ex-Chef)








The waterfall is just by the lake. A nice splendid view that is really amazing. The boatman then brought us to the other side of the falls... A double WOW... even nice than the one facing the lake.. with just 200m walk along the jungle...




We all had a great bath at the waterfalls. But that's not the end... when we were back to the boat... most of us grab the personal floating device and jumped into the lake... WALAU!!! Biggest POOL ever.... and we all swam all the way to the falls.... NICE and FUN... the lake was at least 50-60ft... (that's at the side).. In middle.. NO IDEA....


After swimming, we all headed back to the boat for our dinner.. STEAMBOAT!!! WOW... So nice.. especially the Tom Yam Soup... Joe made the soup with lots of chicken bones that made it so tasty....We all had a real great dinner...

After dinner, 2 Cinemas was opened...One boat showing Steven Chow, the other boat.. Clubbing nite.. whokakakaka... Joe and a few went on the second deck to wait for stars.. but luck was definitely not on our side.. NO STARS... only managed to see Orion's Belt for a while.. then the clouds covered the whole sky and started raining AGAIN!


After the movies session, some of us gathered at the open deck and play some cards.. this was the best part in our trip.... We had a good laugh from our Entertainer Mr.Simon.. that made all that were there laugh till stomach cramp...What a real joker!

Wow... 3 days just pass.. Today the last day of the trip. The boat started and we went all the way to Saok Waterfalls. Not as impressive as Lasir.. But the river is swollen makes the water volume really really big. "NO ONE ALLOWED IN THE WATERFALL" said Joe. So all was very obedient.. and we just took some pictures and headed back to the boat. We all had our lunch on the boat while the boat heads back to the jetty.

Just on time back to the Jetty, our bus was waiting for us there at 2.30pm.. We grab our group picture and headed back to Kuala Berang. We must stop by at Kuala Berang for some Keropok Lekor and Sata... Nice hot Sata only RM2 for 6pcs... so nice..


On the way home, we stopped by for a 10 course dinner at Bukit Tinggi and reach KL at 10.30pm
